Flexibility for Brazilian Zouk Workshop
Who this workshop recording is for:
While designed with Brazilian zouk in mind, this workshop features flexibility drills that would help a variety of dancers (sensual bachata, pole, etc.) work on the back flexibility required for slinkier spinal movements. If you need more back mobility (especially upper back!) for things like body waves or backbends, this is a great workshop for you!
What this workshop includes:
A quick full-body warm-up to get you ready to stretch
A 60+ min follow-along flexibility routine recording with active and passive flexibility drills aimed to:
Condition our neck for off-axis positions, like cambres, side tilts, and head movement
Increase our thoracic spine (upper back) flexibility for backbends, sidebends, and twists
Because upper back flexibility is often the most challenging range of motion for students, this is a much larger focus of the workshop (~50% of the workshop is dedicated to back flexibility drills)
Learn to access this newfound flexibility in “unsupported” backbends like cambres
Stretch the front of our hips to allow for greater hip extension
Condition our ankles (specifically the outer ankle) to support the demands of pivoting and spinning while dancing
A PDF with a reminder list of all the exercises covered in the follow-along workshop
Upon purchase you will receive a PDF with a private YouTube link to the recording, as well as a list of the training drills used in the workshop so you can pick your favorite to customize a training routine.
Recommended props:
2 yoga blocks and/or a sturdy chair
Some kind of long strap (a stretchy strap like a TheraBand is great)
