Bird of Paradise Workshop

$25.00

Who this workshop recording is for:

This ~60 minute* workshop is focused on building the flexibility and strength in both our hips and shoulders to work towards variations of Bird of Paradise pose. Note: this is not a yoga-style class (although you may recognize some yoga poses in some of the drills)!

This follow-along routine was designed to fit a 60-minute practice, but students can shorten or lengthen the practice according to their preference. This workshop includes:

  • 50 minutes of warm up, stretching, and active flexibility conditioning (aka strengthening!) with an emphasis on hamstring flexibility for a more comfortable Bird of Paradise pose. Spinal twists and shoulder rotation drills are also included to help with some of the arm bind variations

  • 20 minutes of pick-and-choose skillwork covering 10 different variations of Bird of Paradise pose, including:

    • Traditional seated and standing Bird of Paradise

    • Twisted Bird of Paradise

    • Reclined Bird of Paradise

    • Upside-Down Bird of Paradise

    • and more!

Recommended prerequisites:

This is an all-levels workshop, and variations of drills are given for all flexibility levels (make sure you have a strap if you’re someone with tighter hips or shoulders!)

Recommended props:

  • Yoga mat

  • 2 yoga blocks

  • Some kind of strap

  • Wall space (optional, but helpful to lean into for balance when working on the standing Bird of Paradise variations)

Note: Because of Squarespace’s file size limitations (which is what I use for this wonderful website!), upon purchase you will receive a PDF with a private YouTube link to the recording.
